Lizzy Hoyt

Praised by Opera Canada for both her dramatic depth and keen comedic gifts, recent classical performances include her “dazzling” debut in the title role of Cinderella in Rossini’s LA CENERENTOLA (Manitoba Opera, Brott Opera), Ruggiero in Handel’s, ALCINA (Manitoba Chamber Orchestra), Rossini’s GIOVANNA D’ARCO Cantata (Orchestra Borealis), and “Bach: Music of Fear and Faith”, a concert of solo cantatas and duets with tenor, John Tessier. Her upcoming season includes DEJANIRA role debut (Blue Crown Baroque Ensemble), The Messiah (Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra), a concert of Vivaldi, Handel & Hasse in Winnipeg, and a performance of Kevin Lau’s THE RUINS OF TIME with the Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton.

A nationally recognized Celtic songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, she won the TRADITIONAL SINGER OF THE YEAR Award at the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards for her album, The Parting Glass. Other awards and nominations include the QUEENS DIAMOND JUBILEE MEDAL, Canadian Folk Music Awards, Western Canadian Folk Music Awards, International Acoustic Music Awards and Independent Music Awards.

In addition to five independent albums, Lizzy has released multiple musical film projects, and has given countless concert tours across Canada as a solo artist since 2009, and as a side-musician since 1999.
