Lizzy Hoyt
Classical & Baroque meets Celtic & Folk
Few vocalists authentically cross genres at the highest levels and maintain professional careers in both areas - but LIZZY HOYT is one of them!
Praised by Opera Canada for both her dramatic depth and keen comedic gifts, recent opera performances include her “dazzling” debut in the title role of Cinderella in Rossini’s LA CENERENTOLA (Manitoba Opera, Brott Opera) and Ruggiero in Handel’s, ALCINA (Manitoba Chamber Orchestra). Other recent engagements include Rossini’s GIOVANNA D’ARCO Cantata (Orchestra Borealis), “In Remembrance” Recital for Edmonton Recital Society, and “Bach: Music of Fear and Faith”, a concert of solo cantatas and duets with tenor, John Tessier and the Blue Crown Baroque Ensemble. She returns to Edmonton in 2025 to perform Kevin Lau’s THE RUINS OF TIME with the Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton - originally commissioned for Lizzy by the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra.
A nationally recognized Celtic songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, she won the TRADITIONAL SINGER OF THE YEAR Award at the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards for her album, The Parting Glass. Other awards and nominations include the QUEENS DIAMOND JUBILEE MEDAL, Canadian Folk Music Awards, Western Canadian Folk Music Awards, International Acoustic Music Awards and Independent Music Awards.
In addition to five independent albums, Lizzy has released multiple musical film projects, and has given countless concert tours across Canada as a solo artist since 2009, and as a side-musician since 1999. She shares content online through her social media platforms which have received hundreds of thousands of views @LizzyHoytMusic.
